450 Storylines: Concord Recap

JETT LAWRENCE: Jett Lawrence takes a 9-point lead in the Championship standings with his fifth career Playoff victory (in only seven rounds) in Concord. The win was his 65th SMX League victory, passing Bob Hannah for seventh on the all-time SMX League wins list. Along with his 65th win, Jett nailed his 85th podium, 100th top-5, and 115th top-10 in his SMX League career. Honda continues their dominance of the 450SMX Playoffs, winning all seven rounds to this point.

CHASE SEXTON: Earns a runner-up in Concord, tying him with Jeff Emig for 17th on the all-time SMX League podiums list with 105. Sexton has five podiums in the 7 SMX Playoff rounds to this point. He trails Jett by nine-points going into the double-point St. Louis round. Concord was Sexton’s 200th career SMX League start.

ELI TOMAC: Claims his third podium in four career SMX Playoff starts. Extends his all-time record SMX League podium number to 229, 66 more than the next highest active athlete (Ken Roczen, 163). He sits fourth in the Championship standings, 12 points behind Jett going into St. Louis.

NOTES: Seven athletes have competed in all seven 450SMX Playoff rounds: J. Lawrence, Sexton, Ken Roczen, Cooper Webb, Dylan Ferrandis, Shane McElrath, and Dean Wilson. Jett is the only one with a top-5 finish in all seven, while Jett, Roczen, & Webbare the only three who have been in the top-10 in all seven. Jeremy Hand is the only athlete to race in all seven 450SMX Playoff Wildcards, qualifying in three of them including in Concord.
450 Class: St. Louis Facts
- HISTORY LESSON: The first 450SX Class round held in St. Louis was on April 27, 1996. Jeremy McGrath was on a 13-round win streak heading into the Edward Jones Dome (now called The Dome at America’s Center). He was looking to score the first perfect Premier Class season since Jimmy Ellis in 1975 with only St. Louis and Denver remaining on the schedule. Jeff Emig (Kawasaki) scored an upset victory to halt McGrath’s bid for perfection. McGrath finished runner-up and capped the season off with a win in Denver.
- ST. LOUIS 450SMX HISTORY: Supercross returned to St. Louis every year through 2018, then alternating years since (2020, 2022, & 2024). The 2025 SMX Playoff round will be the 27th 450 SMX League round held in St. Louis (26 SX, 1 Playoff). St. Peters, MO is a northwestern suburb of St. Louis and held multiple 450/500 Class rounds in the 70s. Mid-American/Cycle World USA MX Park hosted 500 rounds in 1972, 1976, & 1977 and hosted a 450 and 500 Class round in 1978.
- TASTE OF TOP STEP AT ST. LOUIS: The 2022 and 2024 St. Louis Supercross rounds were Triple Crowns won by Marvin Musquin (KTM, 2-1-2) and Eli Tomac (Yamaha, 1-1-1). Tomac has won four straight motos in St. Louis going 4-4-1 in 2022 and sweeping in 2024. Chase Sexton (Honda) is the other St. Louis moto winner (2022, 1-3-3 for 2nd overall). Ken Roczen is the only other active 450 Playoff competitor with a 450SX Class win in St. Louis (2020), while Justin Barcia (three times) and RJ Hampshire won St. Louis in the 250 Class. Jett Lawrence is the sixth active 450SMX Playoff contender with at least a moto victory in St. Louis, going 1-1-5 for second overall in 2022.
- CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: The winner of St. Louis has won the title in only 11/26 (42%) seasons, and none of the past five visits (2025/Tomac, 2022/Musquin, 2020/Ken Roczen, 2018/Tomac, & 2017/Tomac). Ryan Dungey in 2016 is the last athlete to win St. Louis and the title.
250 Storylines: Concord Recap

HAIDEN DEEGAN: Becomes the 30th athlete in SMX League history with 25 wins, tying Jean-Michel Bayle and Doug Henry for 28th on the list. He has now won 4 of the 7 250SMX Playoff rounds and been on the podium in all seven. He seeks his 50th career SMX League podium in St. Louis and holds an eight-point lead over Jo Shimoda headed into the double-pointed St. Louis round.

SETH HAMMAKER: Earned his first career SMX Playoff podium in 3 attempts with a runner-up finish in Concord. It was his 11th career SMX League podium in 63 starts and he trails Deegan by 16-points going into St. Louis.

JO SHIMODA: Claimed his fifth podium in seven Playoff starts after working his way back from a wreck while attempting to pass for the lead early in the race. He was making his 125th career SMX League start, nailed his 43rd podium, and 80th top-5. The podium ties him with Marty Smith for 58th on the all-time SMX League podiums list.

NOTES: Six athletes have competed in all seven 250SMX Playoff rounds: Deegan, Shimoda, Kitchen, Ryder DiFrancesco, Tom Vialle, & Smith. Deegan is the only one with a podium in all seven while Deegan and Shimoda each have a top-five finish in all seven. Along with Deegan and Shimoda, Kitchen has a top-10 in all seven. Lux Turner and Cullin Park competed in their record fourth 250SMX Playoff LCQ, each qualifying for the fourth time. Henry Miller also has four LCQ starts and qualified for the third time, while Hunter Yoder made his fourth LCQ start but failed to qualify.
250 Class: St. Louis Facts
- HISTORY LESSON: The first 250SX Class race held in St. Louis was on April 27, 1996, and was one of four East/West Shoot-outs that season. Kevin Windham (Yamaha) won the round along with an impressive 3/4 total S.O.’s on the season. It was Windham’s fifth win during his first of two Western Divisional title runs and he secured a sixth to clinch the title in the Denver finale.
- ST. LOUIS 250SMX HISTORY: St. Louis has the same history as the 450SX Class. The 1996 round was a Shoot-out, 1997-2018 were all Eastern Divisional rounds, 2020 and 2024 were Western Divisional, and 2022 was an Eastern Divisional. 2022 and 2024 were Triple Crowns, just like the 450SX Class. Active 450SMX competitor Hampshire won the 2022 Triple Crown with 2-2-1 scores and was his first career victory. Active 250SMX competitor Levi Kitchen swept the 2024 St. Louis Triple Crown.
- FAMILIAR FACES RETURN: Five of the top six finishers from the 2024 STL Triple Crown round return as 250SMX STL Playoff competitors in 2025: 1st– Levi Kitchen (1-1-1), 2nd– Jo Shimoda (2-3-3), 3rd– Jordon Smith (3-2-4), 5th– Nate Thrasher (5-6-6), 6th– Garrett Marchbanks (9-6-5). Smith is the only active 250SMX Playoff competitor who raced in the 2022 STL Triple Crown finishing sixth with 6-5-11 scores. Austin Forkner did not race 2022 or 2024 St. Louis but won the 2020 round at The Dome.
- CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: The winner of the 250SX Class race in St. Louis has won the 250SX Class Championship in 15/26 (58%) seasons, and none of the past six visits (2024/Kitchen, 2022/Hampshire, 2020/Austin Forkner, 2018/Zach Osborne, 2017/Jordon Smith, & 2016/Jeremy Martin). Musquin in 2015 was the last athlete to win St. Louis and the 250SX Class title.
