Owl AI, recently named to Sports Business Journal’s top 10 most innovative sports tech companies, and a pioneer in artificial intelligence for professional sports, announced today a strategic partnership with the SMX LeagueTM. By joining Owl AI’s “AI Trailblazer” program, the Monster Energy SMX World Championship cements its position at the forefront of motorsport innovation, leveraging Owl AI’s proprietary technology to lead the way AI is integrated into live sports broadcasting and streaming. This partnership marks a significant expansion for Owl AI, building on its groundbreaking success as the first AI to judge professional sports on live television.
Unlike traditional computer vision systems that require heavy hardware and manual sensor setups, Owl AI leverages advanced AI to understand sports action directly from video feeds. Through this partnership, the SMX League will explore the deployment of Owl AI’s suite of tools in areas such as:
- Enhancing the Peacock and SMX Video Pass streaming content with foreign language translation to further expand the global reach of the SMX World Championship.
- Exploring ways to use the power of OWL AI to enhance the SMX fan experience and provide key stakeholders with additional racing data.
- Investing back into the sport to further expand globally as the preeminent off-road motorcycle racing series in the world.
“We are thrilled to welcome the SMX League to the AI Trailblazer program,” said Josh Gwyther, CEO of Owl AI. “The SMX League understands that the future of sports lies in using technology to bring fans closer to the action and fairness to the athletes. Our mission is to enhance the enjoyment of sports for everyone involved, and this partnership allows us to deploy Owl AI to arguably one of the most exciting sports on the planet.”
“Partnering with Owl AI allows us to explore the cutting edge of what is possible in motorsports,” said Dave Prater, Vice President of Supercross, Feld Motor Sports. “Joining the AI Trailblazer program ensures that SMX remains a leader in adopting technologies that improve the experience for our athletes, our teams, and most importantly, our fans.”
The Monster Energy SMX World Championship is streamed live in the United States on Peacock in both English & Spanish, and available around the world via the SMX Video Pass in English, Spanish, and French languages. Foreign language translation will be a key initiative in further developing additional language offerings around the world.
